Scrapbook Your Black and White Photos

I've had these photos to scrap for a while now - and I'd even bought some papers to scap them with, but the two had never quite come together. This week's challenge on Shimelle's blog to scrapbook black and white photos was just the push I needed to get them done.

These two pages will go side by side in my album, the first page shows pictures of my grandfather in his car outside the munitions factory where he and my grandmother worked during the war. The second page is their engagement photo - they were married in 1941.

The background papers and ruffle embellishments are all from the KI Memories Vintage Charm collection from 2012. I've cut around some of the elements on the background papers so that I could slot elements behind them and give them more dimension. The other paper scraps are from various My Mind's Eye collections, and the buttons and script vellum are all from my stash.

Happy St Patrick's Day!

This week I decided to scrap some of the many St Patrick's Day photos we have. Our local parade is a big event in the town and, if the weather's good, the town is really buzzing!

The challenge on Shimelle's blog went up a little later than usual this week, but I think this layout just about qualifies! It's to scrapbook with lots of letters and, while I haven't gone mad with them, the title is rather longer than I would usually use - and is a major part of the design.

The green letters are Cupboard Thickers in cricket and the orange tile stickers are from the Simple Stories Urban Traveller sticker sheet. The papers are also from Simple Stories, this time from the DIY collection.

The shamrocks are hearts punched from white cardstock covered in bundled sage distress ink

Scrap 3 Photos on One Page

The challenge for this week on Shimelle's blog is to scrap three photos on one page. As a lover of multiple photos on pages, this was definitely up my street!

Once again it's a double-page spread - one page has two photos, the other three. The three photos are a sequence so, by putting them together in a line, they read as one larger image.

This is another stash-busting layout with the smaller matting papers coming from the Papermania Birdsong collection 6x6 paper pad (which now seems to be available on DVD) and the main background papers and 'Be playful...' embellishment are from Amy Tangerine's Yes, Please collection from American Crafts. The flowers are more of my old Prima stash, with the leaves being punched from another sheet of the Papermania paper.

Circular Scrapbooking Inspiration

This last weekend, Shimelle hosted an online crop on her blog, with lots of challenges. While I didn't have much chance to scrapbook, I did manage to finish this page I started some time ago, which fits in rather nicely with the challenge to scrapbook with circles.

The yellow and blue papers are from an old Fancy Pants line, Down by The Shore, and the stripy paper I used for a border is from Simple Stories, I Heart Summer.

The title was cut from Sizzlits Block Party dies which were then used as a mask when I sprayed on Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Patina.

Happy Mother's Day!

This side of the world, today is Mother's Day so, as well as sending her some flowers, I needed to send mum a card.

This might all look a bit familiar as the lettering is, again, brush script, this time using my Pentel brush pen. The picture doesn't show it too clearly, but the gold debossing on the paper resisted the ink and gave it a really cool look. Again, the paper is from the Becky Higgins Project Life Desktop Edition 6x6 paper pad and the Cheery Lynn Fanciful Flourish die was cut from vellum this time. I'm also continuing to use up my old Prima flowers, and dipped in to my stash of brads to finish the centres.

Take Inspiration from Maps or Globes

When I saw this week's challenge on Shimelle's blog I knew exactly what I wanted to scrap. We recently went to an evening with Commander Chris Hadfield. He was Commander of Expedition 35 to the International Space Station, so this was a really interesting evening, and we took a couple of (slightly blurry) pictures while we were there.

The Starshine collection from Shimelle for American Crafts was ideal for these as it features star maps, globes and space rockets!

I also wanted to create a companion page of a couple of photos that he took while on the Space Station. Although they're not too clear in the photos, they show Ireland, the UK and across to France at night, and the south coast of England, where I'm from.

With such a wealth of themed papers and embellishments, I thought these would be really quick to do, but they took an age - and I've come back to them a few times! I think I'm done now, but you never know!
